I am excited to see that FPGA-based prototyping has gone main-stream in the last 12 months and attracted a good deal of media attention. This is in line with S2C’s prediction that FPGA-based prototyping will be an indispensable methodology in today’s SoC design flow, especially with software continuing to be the design bottleneck.
FPGA-based prototyping is not simply putting an FPGA on a printed circuit board. There are many factors to be considered including performance, system interface capabilities, scalability, reusability, reliability, compile flow, debug flow, and more. S2C has been dedicated to FPGA-based prototyping solutions for over 10 years and we continue to provide the best all-in-one tool that addresses the full range of requirements for a high-performance prototyping platform.

  • With the release of ProtoBridge™ version 2.1, we’ve enhanced our Transaction-based testing tool – a key enabling technology. ProtoBridge™ version 2.1 uses the widely-adopted AXI-4 bus protocol to bridge system-level simulation and FPGA-based prototyping environments. This allows users to expand their FPGA-based prototype usage beyond the traditional system validation tasks. Dozens of customers already use ProtoBridge transaction-based testing in addition, and prior to in-circuit testing.     New ProtoBridge™ AXI expands FPGA-Based Prototype Usage

    S2C released ProtoBridge™ version 2.1 in July. This new version allows designers to easily read and write data between a host computer and designs mapped to FPGA-based prototypes using AXI-4 transactions. By utilizing a rich set of C subroutine calls, ProtoBridge AXI users can easily implement algorithm validation, block-level prototyping, full-chip simulation acceleration, corner case testing, and early SoC software development.

    The new ProtoBridge AXI release provides the following benefits:

    •  10,000 times faster verification speed over RTL simulation
    •  Links to C/C++ models and tests
    •  Create corner test cases easily
    •  Up to 8 AXI Master and 8 AXI Slave transaction interfaces
    •  Up to 500MB/s data transmission rate in DMA mode

    S2C Opens Direct Office in Japan

    S2C is pleased to announce the establishment of its wholly owned subsidiary, S2C Japan KK, on July 15, 2014 in Shin-Yokohama, Japan. S2C Japan KK will provide superior sales and technical support to its fast-growing customer base in the region. To lead this business effort, S2C has appointed Tomoyuki Tsuji as president of S2C Japan KK.

    “Japanese chip design companies today lead in advanced design protocols. What these firms need is a sophisticated system-level methodology and tool set. S2C has been working closely with a number of Japanese customers and partners to utilize FPGA-based prototypes in accelerating system-level design and early software development,” said Toshio Nakama, CEO of S2C. “Our new Japan office will enable us to work even closer with our partners in the system-level methodology area, as well as provide superior service and support.”
