CAST H.264 Encoder Reference Design on S2C's Virtex-5 TAI Logic Module
Reduce IP evaluation time and ease design prototyping; Request to see the demo today


Silicon IP provider, CAST Inc., has released a newer version of H.264 Encoder IP optimized to achieve high-quality video. The H.264 encoder IP core, together with several other CAST IP cores, are implemented in a Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA on TAI Logic Module. The reference design reads a video file in standard YUV format and accepts various compression parameters set through a GUI on the host system. It then produces H.264 video, which is sent through the PCIe connection for streaming display or file storage. The reference design will greatly reduce IP evaluation time and ease design prototyping for SoC designers.

Event Review

SoCIP Turns Two

S2C would like to thank all the attendees and exhibitors who participated in SoCIP2009, the second annual premier IP seminar & exhibition held in China, for making the event a great success.  Our 9 technical sessions addressed many of the critical success factors in designing today's SoC. These challenges include selecting the right IP cores, implementing high-speed interfaces, rapidly prototyping SoC designs on FPGAs, lowering SoC development risks and shortening SoC development cycles.  Throughout the show, we were pleased to see great interaction among the visitors and the executives from leading Silicon IP companies. Attendees shared their views on different design specifications, solutions and challenges.  The SoCIP2009 concluded with Acer Netbooks given to lucky draw winners from Nufront, in Beijing, and SMIC, in Shanghai.

SoCIP event is created to provide the essential platform in China for the local SoC industry to utilize world-class technologies, creating new and exciting products to meet global market demand.  We will continue the growth of the SoCIP exhibition and seminar into an increasingly important event in China's semiconductor industry calendar.  We look forward to seeing you all next year at SoCIP2010.
